MBS Orientation Program

Welcome to the World Class!

This is the start of an exciting journey. At MBS you will learn from outstanding faculty, meet and develop invaluable networks with your peers and encounter transformational personal and professional opportunities. We encourage you to take full advantage of the opportunities available.

The MBS Orientation Program runs over six-days and will provide you with essential course planning information, deliver core skills for graduate study and introduce you to the vibrant MBS student community and the wide range of services, programs and activities available exclusively to MBS students.

Program Overview - Timetable

Day 1: Monday, 19 February

  • Welcome from the Deputy Dean MBS and Academic Program Directors.
  • Receive course planning advice and details of course requirements.
  • Meet fellow students and MBS Student Association representatives over lunch and at a social networking event.

Day 2: Tuesday, 20 February

  • Core study skills workshops:
  • Between 11.00 to 2.00pm: Join us for lunch and meet representatives from FBE student clubs and societies and University Services at the Faculty of Business and Economics Clubs and University Services Expo. Free event, register via:

  • Student Employability Program: Be introduced to the Student Employability Program and the team who run it. Discover the wide range of targeted skill development and industry engagement opportunities available to MBS students throughout their degree, designed to enhance key transferrable skills and relevant experiences needed to succeed. Hear from alumni about their own career journeys and undertake a self-assessment exercise to help determine your own needs.

    MBS Welcome Function: Held at an iconic Melbourne venue, the MBS Welcome Function will feature a TedX-style talk delivered by an inspiring business leader. This will be followed by an interactive session to test your understanding and share some insights on business etiquette as well as an opportunity to meet and network with your Academic Program Director, student ambassadors and other highly engaged later year students from your degree.

    Canap├ęs and drinks will be provided. This exclusive event is free however registrations are essential. Invitations to register will be sent to all commencing students on Monday, 19 February.
