Melbourne students participating in the dual degree program at Bocconi University must successfully meet the following requirements to be awarded the MSc Marketing Management:
- Complete nine courses:
- Channel Marketing
- Understanding Consumer – Module 1
- Market Research
- Product Innovation and Market Creation
- Brand Management
- Strategic Marketing and Analytics - Module 2
- Legal Issues in Marketing
- Behavioral Skills Seminars
- Enhancing Experience - Curricular Supplementary Activity
- Complete a mandatory 10-week full time internship in Australia, Italy or any other country. UoM students may wish to consider fulfilling the Internship requirements prior to arrival at Bocconi.
- Write a Master's thesis supervised by a Bocconi faculty member and defended at one of the four graduation sessions available throughout the year (usually in July/October/December/March).
- Complete two foreign language exams at Bocconi or through International certificates. (See below for more information on language requirements).
- Attend a graduation ceremony at Bocconi University. (Students are not able to graduate in absentia).
Please be aware that students will need to reside in Milan for 12-18 months to meet all the requirements of the MSc Marketing Management.
Dual degree credit agreement:
- Bocconi will award MIB dual degree students 60 ECTs towards the MSc Marketing Management degree (subject to students satisfying the requirements listed above).
- MBS will award MIB dual degree students who successfully complete Bocconi's program requirements (listed above) 50 points credit towards the Master of International Business.

Bocconi language requirements for incoming dual degree students
- Incoming double degree students are required to pass two foreign language exams at Bocconi or through international certificates.
- All students must pass English at level C1 business.
- Non-native Italian speakers must pass Italian at the level of A2.
- Native Italian speakers must choose German, French or Spanish.
- Bocconi runs an ad hoc Italian language course throughout the first semester as preparation for the Italian exam.
- The Bocconi Language Center recognizes some international language certificates.

Melbourne students who are admitted to study at Bocconi must:
- Continue to pay tuition fees at Melbourne while studying at Bocconi
- Pay the Bocconi Graduate Fee of approximately €400 (subject to change) directly to Bocconi
- Pay all costs associated with accommodation, travel and transportation, passport and visa costs, medical and travel insurance, meal expenses, text books and course materials, clothing and all other expenses incurred while completing the program.
Note: Dual degree students must ensure they have adequate funds to support themselves for a minimum of 12 months abroad. Students should not expect to be able to supplement their income through employment while undertaking this program.

MIB dual degree students must complete the following study plan at HEC Montréal to meet the requirements of the MSc Global Supply Chain Management.

- Planning and Control of Logistics Systems
- Managing International Business Networks
- Supply Chain Management: Fundamentals and Trends
- Decision Support Tools for the Operations Manager
- Comparative Perspectives on Business Organisations
- 2 subjects chosen from a designated list of 9 options.
Supervised project
The supervised project can take many forms, including an internship, a small research project or an essay. At the end of the project, students must write a report of 60 pages including introduction, description of the company, description of the problem/project, literature review, methodology, results, and conclusion.
Supervised project - quick facts
- The supervised project is usually undertaken full-time in the Summer Semester after completion of the coursework subjects, often extending students’ stay in Montréal beyond 2 Semesters. Students should plan to be abroad for a full year (12 months) in order to meet all the requirements of the degree.
- Projects can be completed either at the university, or at an external organisation.
- Students wishing to complete their project at an external organisation in Quebec must speak French.
- The project can be completed in Australia, but must be supervised by HEC Montréal.
Dual degree credit agreement:
- HEC Montréal will award MIB dual degree students 15 HEC credits towards the Masters of Global Supply Chain Management, subject to completing all the requirements listed above.
- MBS will award MIB dual degree students 50 Melbourne credit points towards the Master of International Business upon completion of the HEC Montréal program.

Melbourne students who are admitted to study at HEC must:
- Continue to pay tuition fees at Melbourne while studying at HEC
- Note: there are only 2 exchange places per year. Any extra places would be counted as Study Abroad with students paying fees directly to HEC.
- Pay all costs associated with accommodation, travel and transportation, passport and visa costs, medical and travel insurance, meal expenses, text books and course materials, clothing and all other expenses incurred while completing the program.
Note: Dual degree students must ensure they have adequate funds to support themselves for a minimum of 12 months abroad. Students should not expect to be able to supplement their income through employment while undertaking this program.
MIB study plan for outbound dual degree students
To participate in the dual degree, Master of International Business students must have completed 100 credit points of their MIB and have 50 credit points remaining on their study plan at the time of departure to their host institution.
DUAL DEGREE STUDENTS MUST COMPLETE ALL THE FOLLOWING SUBJECTS OF THEIR MIB:
- Foundation subjects (if admitted to the 200 point program)
- Core subjects
- Discipline Core subjects
- One of the following Capstone subjects:
o MGMT90148 Consulting Fundamentals
o BUSA90485 Global Business Practicum
o BUSA90473 Business Practicum
o BUSA90525 Business and Economics Internship
o ENGR90039 Creating Innovative Professionals
DUAL DEGREE STUDENTS MUST NOT COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING SUBJECTS OF THEIR MIB:
- IBUS90001 Global Strategy*
- Elective subjects*
*Dual degree students will receive 50 points' credit towards the MIB in place of these subjects upon completion of their studies at their host institution.
International students
International students wishing to apply for an Australian Temporary Graduate visa upon completion of their studies should seek advice from the Department of Home Affairs or a qualified migration agent regarding the requirements for this type of visa before applying for the dual degree, as participation in the program may disqualify them. (Please note that Faculty staff are not able to advise students on any visa or immigration matters).
ELIGIBILITY
To be considered, MIB students must:
- have achieved a minimum 70% WAM (Weighted Average Mark) in the MIB at the time of application
- have completed 100 credit points of the MIB by the time of departure to their host university
- have at least 50 credit points remaining of their MIB study plan by the time of departure to their host university. (i.e. 150 point students commence at the host university in their third semester of the MIB; 200 point students commence at the host university in their third or fourth semester of the MIB)
- meet the partner university's entry requirements
Application process:
- MIB students submit a completed application form and personal statement through this form before the annual deadline
- The Faculty will nominate the most competitive applicants to the host universities
- Nominees will be asked to submit an online application to their host university
- Successful nominees are admitted to their host university and commence their second degree in August/September of the intake year

Funding
Master of International Business dual degree students must be able to fund their own travel, living and study costs for the duration of their studies at the host institution.
OS-HELP loans
Dual degree students do not meet eligibility for government OS-HELP loans.
Scholarships
Melbourne Mobility Awards
Outbound dual degree students are eligible to apply for a Melbourne Global Scholars Award. A Melbourne Global Scholars Award provides a one-off payment which is designed to assist students to meet basic travel costs. This award is granted on the basis of academic merit and is subject to availability.
Melbourne Mobility Excellence Awards
Melbourne Mobility Excellence Awards support high-achieving students undertaking overseas study. Students must have a minimum course Weighted Average of 80 to be eligible to apply for these grants worth between $2,500 and $4000.
