Who are we?
Rose Jost
With a background in Cognitive Psychology and program design, Rose has built and lead wellbeing teams across all dimensions of the Higher Education sector. She is committed to providing the conditions for students to flourish through self-regulation, self-management, and connection. Outside of work, she thrives on family, travel, nature, and continuous learning.
Vanessa Abbey
Vanessa has a counselling background and has worked in welfare, safeguarding and wellbeing roles within higher education and non-profits for over eight years. She loves working with young people and providing a holistic, student-centred model of care. Outside of work, she is a mother to an 18-month-old and loves hiking, reading, paddleboarding and travelling.
Coco
Coco has recently become accredited as an emotional support dog. She loves digging, snacks, long walks on the beach, cuddles, and a good snooze. She can be found in the Student Wellbeing Hub on Thursdays throughout teaching weeks during semester.
How can we support you?
The FBE Student Wellbeing team can:
- help you identify what support, resources, skills or assistance you may need to help you succeed in your studies
- assist you in setting academic and personal goals
- offer confidential, non-judgmental conversations about your overall wellbeing, extenuating circumstances you may be facing, or challenges with your studies
- refer and connect you with central University and external services

FBE Student Wellbeing Hub drop-in sessions:
Drop into the Student Wellbeing Hub, located at 99 Barry Street. Come in to chat with the Student Wellbeing Team and other FBE students, simply take some time to unwind, or on Thursdays to have a cuddle with Coco, our Wellbeing/Emotional Support Dog.
Drop-in hours during teaching weeks:
Tuesdays – 12:00pm-1:30pm
Wednesdays – 12:00pm-1:30pm
Thursdays – Wellbeing Golden Hour featuring Coco – 12:00pm-1:30pm

Counselling and Psychological Services (CAPS)
The University’s CAPS team offers counselling, workshops and online resources to help you maintain your wellbeing throughout your studies.
Access more support
The University of Melbourne Student Union offers free meditation, free yoga and free breakfasts, as well as opportunities to get involved in volunteering and a Food Bank.
If you would like to speak confidentially to a counsellor, Headspace is a free online or telephone service for young people aged 12 – 25, and Beyond Blue also offers online and telephone counselling.
